This next entry definitely goes in the category "Things you never thought you would say to your child."
One night, as Nicholas was getting ready for bed, I saw him chewing on something. I immediately asked him what was in his mouth since I thought he was sneaking treats. This was not acceptable since he didn't finish his dinner and so treats were definitely not an option. I was all ready to give him a lecture about sneaking treats (a recent favorite activity of his) when I was floored by his response. This is how the conversation went.
Me: Nicholas! What is in your mouth?
Nicholas: A house.
Me: A WHAT?
Nicholas: A house. You know, from the game Monopoly.
Me: Young man, we do not put houses in our mouth!
I had to laugh after I said this because it sounded so ridiculous. It was definitely up there with the comment I overheard one day while talking with my dear friend, Mindy, on the phone. "Spencer, don't hit the goat." Yep, definitely under the category of "Things you never thought you would say to your child." Life is good.
