June

June was full of fun.  We spent as much time as possible by the pool.  Any days I don't record a specific event it can be correctly assumed that we were at the pool.  We didn't go as much as we wanted last summer and vowed not to repeat it this summer.  We were true to our word.

June 6th was the Highland Creek Elementary field day.  I got to help out at the hula hoop station.  It was fun to see all the kids having such a great time.  I am grateful that Naomi goes to a school with amazing staff and good students.

June 7th I taught an Environmental Science merit badge class at our house.  I was nervous at first because there was so much to go over I was wondering if we could get it all done.  Everything went perfectly.  We did the classroom portion, the experiments and then took a little field trip to check out the environmental impact of construction at our favorite local park.  The boys had worked hard all day long so I let them have some time to just play.

Nick LOVES this dinosaur.  We have been riding Dino since Nick was a baby.
Playing tag on the jungle gym.

June 8th we helped a neighbor with some yard work.  The boys were thrilled to get paid for the work they did.  Steve also left for San Antonio and the yearly conference.

June 9th Jeremy left for a two-day field trip with the Outdoor Club.  They went camping up at Camp Grimes.  He was so excited to get to go camping.  After we dropped Jeremy off at the school we came home and started to clean out Steve's car.  For Father's Day we were going to do a full detail of his car.  By the time we were done it was going to look better than new.

June 10th was the last day of school for Naomi.  Nick and I went for a bike ride in the morning and then to Walmart in the afternoon to get all the stuff we would need to wax Steve's car.  We then went to the elementary school for the last day presentation of awards in Mrs. Rosales's class.  The kids had been working really hard on the awards they gave to their parents.  They all gave me a card they had signed to tell me thank you for helping them in class each week.

After school we pulled the car into the back yard and washed it down.  Our friends, Sam and Maggie helped us get it super clean.   Nick helped me wax it and it looked GREAT!  By the end of the day we were all exhausted.

June 11th Jeremy returned from his camping trip all smiles and ready for a bath.  He had a great time exploring at Camp Grimes and getting to know the other kids in the group.

June 12th Maggie came with us to go roller skating.  I promised the kids that we would go as soon as school was out.  After roller skating Maggie and Naomi decided to create a snack bar for the birds in our tree out front.  They are so creative.

June 13th, while finishing up Steve's car by cleaning the windows one last time, I was trying to get some stubborn spots off the driver's side window.  I had used a green scrubby in the shower door upstairs to get rid of the water spots and it worked brilliantly so I decided to try it on Steve's window.  All this did was totally scratch the window.  I did some research on the internet and that yielded nothing productive.  We decided to go to the auto parts store and see it there was anything that would take scratches out of glass.  On the was we found a Safelite Glass truck and asked him how to fix our problem.  It turns out that I had scratched the window tinting and I was told that it would be $300 to replace the window.  The guy must have sensed my distress at this news and told me, on the side and unofficially, if it was his car he would just have the window tinting redone. After a few phone calls to the dealership where we purchased the car and a couple of window tinting companies I had set up an appointment to have ALL of Steve's windows retinted for less than the cost of a new window.  It started out bad, but ended up really good.   When Steve got home from his trip to San Antonio we had a good laugh about the whole situation.  He can't complain because his car really does look like new now!  Happy Father's Day!

June 17th, 2014, is a momentous day in Jeremy's life.  He got his learner's permit.  What started out as a rather hectic day (The DMV had moved to a new location that was actually closer to our house but we had to go to the old location to find out the address of the new location) ended up being a really smooth process.  The new building was very nice and it was not crowded at all.  From the time we walked in the door to the time we were leaving was only 1 hour.  It was amazing.

To celebrate we went roller skating again.  This time Jeremy made a few friends - Alexis, Daphne and "Kiwi".  We all had an excellent time and called the day a "Win."

June 23rd I took the kids to their annual eye doctor appointments.  Nick and Naomi both needed new glasses!  $420 later we walked out of the office to hurry home and get the boys ready to leave for scout camp.  Once the boys were on their way, Naomi had her friend Emily come over to play.  They had a blast playing without the boys bothering them.

June 24th Naomi and I went to Goodwill and the fabric store to come up with our outfits for trek.  We are going to be stylin'.  Back at home we went to the pool and pretty much had the place to ourselves.  It was weird and nice at the same time.  Naomi exhausted herself going down the slides.

June 25th we had the Tufts girls over for the afternoon and enjoyed some boy-free time.  (Do you see a theme developing here?)

June 26th Naomi helped me mow the lawn and then we went to the pool with the Tufts, Asha and Izzi.  More girl time.

June 27th was another girls play day with the Tufts and the boys came home from camp.  Naomi and I also spent time making her dress for the pioneer trek.

June 28th was a party day for Naomi.  She spent the morning at Noah's party and the afternoon/evening at Asha's.  In between we did a little shopping for the beach trip coming up in July.

June 30th, Sara Muller and I took Justin and Jeremy shopping at the Goodwill for their pioneer trek outfits.  They had a great time selecting the ugliest things they could find.  Jeremy was really proud of his poo brown shirt and the two of them found a hideous, short, fat tie with what looked like sperm all over it.  We laughed a lot and had a great time.  The boys are going to look great for the trek.
